Hudson Forest Play Sample Daily Schedule

Below is a general outline of a three-hour session at Hudson Forest play for the AM or PM. Depending on the season and group dynamic these times are flexible. Our aim is to learn and be in nature to cultivate a deep inquiry into your child's interest and to build strong nature connections over time.

Meeting Time

Welcome to the land!

We begin our time together with free play beside our meeting place. We slowly gather into a formal meeting circle where we greet each other, we might sing a song, read a story, or share how we are feeling. A snack might be eaten at this time.

*Pack a healthy snack and a water bottle. Be dressed and ready to engage with nature!

Play, Explore & Wonder Time

The next hour we spend getting to know each other, our environment and ourselves through purposeful play where teachers have planned games, skill-building, activities, and ways to connect with nature. Choices are offered to encourage role play, games, social interactions, and language development. Wonder, creativity and curiosity lead the way!

Closing Time

Grounding and calmness closes our time together with time spent in solo time before our closing circle. Each child chooses a space to quietly observe and notice nature. Together we spend time cleaning the land for others to enjoy.

*If your child spends the full day with us, please pack a lunch.
